Study Material Distributed to poor Students:

   
‘Savitribai Phule Sponsorship Programme’ is one of the SSMs earliest support activities through which, talented but economically poor pupils are provided with text books, note books and other study material free of cost.  The programme was launched right from the inception of SSM (1959) to encourage the children from the families of farm laboures, marginal farmers, and other village folk dwelling below poverty line, to attend school and pave a way for their future.
        This year also 236 such talented students, majority of who are the girls, were given all the study material sufficient for one Academic Year. A distribution ceremony was organized for the purpose.

        The Sponsorship Programme is supported by the renowned, well-off businessmen of Village Sagroli and other well wishers of SSM.

State-of-the-Art Toilet Complex opened for the students:

Yes, it is news in deed!  Hundreds of students (Girls out number boys) attend SSM’s schools from 10-15 surrounding villages.  They spend more than eight hours a day in the premises and it can be well understood, how much they suffer without proper toilet facility.

        SSM’s seamless pursuit, the philanthropic gesture of Hero Moto Crop. Ltd. and commendable social responsibility of Habitat for Humanity dawned a great day for the pupils of the Shivaji Jr. Basic School, Sagroli, two other primary schools at Hipparga and Kesarali, when the state of the Art Toilet Complex constructed by spending 15 lakh rupees, were dedicated to them.

        The event was witnessed by Shri Nilesh Karkare, Habitat for Humanity and Mrs. Manisha Saxena, Hero Moto Crop.

        In brief note on their social activities, Mrs. Manisha said, their organization has so far donated for the Toilet Complexes at 500 schools in the rural India.  They had set for themselves a target of 5 lakh toilets to be constructed by the end of 2020, out of which the number has already crossed 1 lakh by July 2016.


        SSM has expressed deep sense of gratitude to both the organizations.  The guests of honor planted trees in the premises on the occasion.

Tree plantation celebrated as Monsoon festival:

        The foot hills of Balaghat wore a lively atmosphere on the fine and cloudy morning on 1st of July, when thousands of boys and girls, NCC cadets, Teachers, Men and Women, volunteered to plant trees.  The event was organized as a part of Maharashtra State Government’s Mass Tree Plantation Programme (2cr. plantation in a day!).  The SSM and the Forest Department jointly conducted the event and 10,000 saplings were planted in 2-3 hours.

        A group of women from Self Help Groups and the village took part in the plantation programme and planted hundreds of plants around the grave yard and the Mahalaxmi temple adjoining it. 


        The event was also attended by special invitees from Mumbai Shri Sanjay Gopal Krishnan and Ms. Chitra from E-Clark Services Ltd. They too planted trees and appreciated the interest of children in the conservation of environment.

A Book on Drought Relief Activities Released:

    SSM has been relentlessly working for the drought relief and prevention activities in Marathwada region for the last 18 months.
 
        To serve as a lead and precedent, all the activities undertaken for the drought relief & prevention are put together in script and a book has been brought out in print. The book was released in July, in the auspices of Shri. Raosaheb Danve, the State President, BJP, Maharashtra.

        During the last one and a half year, SSM has attempted every possible effort by  joining hands with a 100 like-minded NGOs.  A considerable impact is visible with the on set of monsoon and as the good days continue, SSM will be venturing into future initiatives. 

Reliance Foundation felicitates Mrs. Madhuri Revanwar:


      The one and only woman employee of Krishi Vignan Kendra, Sagroli, Mrs. Madhuri Revanwar, Dept. of Home Science, has been felicitated by The Reliance Foundation, Mumbai.  Her commendable services and contribution in the fields of Home Science and women empowerment fetched her rare recognition.

        The Reliance Foundation has been working in educating the farming communities and updating their knowledge in the use of latest innovative, low cost technology in Agricultural practices.  The foundation reaches the farmers through the Government, Semi-Government agencies and the NGOs.  As a token of recognition, the Reliance Foundation chosen Mrs. Madhuri this year and felicitated her in a grand event organized on the occasion.
