The
foot hills of Balaghat wore a lively atmosphere on the fine and cloudy morning
on 1st of July, when thousands of boys and girls, NCC cadets,
Teachers, Men and Women, volunteered to plant trees. The event was organized as a part of
Maharashtra State Government’s Mass Tree Plantation Programme (2cr. plantation
in a day!). The SSM and the Forest
Department jointly conducted the event and 10,000 saplings were planted in 2-3
hours.
A
group of women from Self Help Groups and the village took part in the
plantation programme and planted hundreds of plants around the grave yard and
the Mahalaxmi temple adjoining it.
The
event was also attended by special invitees from Mumbai Shri Sanjay Gopal
Krishnan and Ms. Chitra from E-Clark Services Ltd. They too planted trees and
appreciated the interest of children in the conservation of environment.
